Deepavali-The Festival of Lights

Diwali is the festival of lights and sweetness. It is a symbol of the victory of good over evil and brightness over darkness. The diyas not only make Diwali, but they also symbolise the supermacy and consequence of brightness over darkness.

Diya can be defined as a small earthen lamp that is specially lit on Diwali for Puja and decoration purpose. A cotton wick is used in diyas and oil or ghee serves as the burning fuel. Diyas are plain and coloured, big and small, simple and fancy and so. Diwali diyas are major attraction in this festival. Diwali celebrations are incomplete without the use of Diwali diyas.

So to bring out the creative talents of learners and celebrate the festival of lights in its true spirit, Diya Decoration Competition for class 3rd & 4th was held at Shree H.J. Gajera English Medium School, Katargam branch. The learners took part enthusiastically in the competition and came up with some very interesting ideas. They displayed their creativity by beautifully decorating diyas with colours, glitters and decorative materials. Learners learnt about the significance of lighting diyas on Diwali.

Crafting with E-Waste is a great way to keep devices out of landfills and and into the hands of those who can find new uses for them in homes or offices. E-Waste craft making could easily become the 21st century's premiere to give electronic devices a second chance. with hope for a final, sustainable solution of e-waste crisis, our school organized "Reduce E-waste Competition" Theme - Diwali for std 5th, 6th & 7th. By using different e-waste like old bulbs, old CDs, floppy disk, wires etc.. learners made hanging, lighting lamp and diyas and many more beautifully.

The learners also had made food packages for street sideres on occasion of Diwali to make their festival brighter. Learners also felt happiness by helping them. It was great experience for all learners as well as teachers and judges also who were the reasons for making this activity a great success.
