Good Book Review Competition
“Books are a uniquely portable magic.”

“Books and doors are the same thing. You open them, and you go through into another world.” – Jeanette Winterson.

When we start reading a book our imagination runs wild. Whether it be a fiction or non-fiction book we are reading, our mind starts to view the happenings described in the books. The creativity as well as innovation thought process start to develop if reading is a part of habit in our life.

To inculcate this wonderful habit in the learners, this Diwali vacation they were given a task to read at least one book which is not related to school curriculum. They could select any book of their choice to read. And after reading they needed to describe them through a book review. Due to huge number of learners who worked on this, at first level an initial competition was organized for Std- 4th to 7th where the final participants were decided at class level. Thereafter the final participant’s competition was organized on 30th November in the school conference hall. The learners who participated in this competition gave review of the non-academic books which they read during the vacation. The books were both fiction as well as non-fiction. The participants gave a review speech of 2-3 minutes where they described about the book's specifics as well as a short summary.

“Reading should not be presented to children as a chore, a duty. It should be offered as a gift.” And truly we aspire to make this happen in reality for our learners too.
Through this competition the reading as well as orientation skill of the learners were subjected to get developed. The learners contributed to develop reading habit instead of engaging their time in other non-fruitful activities. The competition was a successful event where each participant enjoyed well.
