National Science Day

Updated: Mar 1, 2021

“SCIENCE, LIKE LIFE, FEEDS ON ITS OWN DECAY. NEW FACTS BURST OLD RULES; THEN NEWLY DIVINED CONCEPTIONS BIND OLD AND NEW TOGETHER INTO A RECONCILING LAW AND THE GOOD THING ABOUT SCIENCE IS, IT’S TRUE WHETHER OR NOT YOU BELIEVE IN IT.”

February 28 holds a special place in history of India. On this day in the year 1928, our prominent physicist CV Raman invented the 'Raman Effect'. For his discovery, Sir C.V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. Since then, every year, this day is observed to mark the great discovery of CV Raman as National Science Day. National Science Day is celebrated in India since 1987. Events on this day remind the importance of science inspiring people of all ages to work in the field of SCIENCE. This day attracts many young minds and motivates them to take up science as their career.

The objective of this day is to motivate the students to try their hands in the field of science. National Science Day is celebrated to spread a message about the importance of science used in the daily life of the people, to display all the activities, efforts and achievements in the field of science for human welfare. It is celebrated to discuss all the issues and implement new technologies for the development in the field of science, to give an opportunity to the scientific minded citizens in India and to encourage the people as well as popularize science and technology.

Every year we celebrate this day in our school with great pomp and show. Several number of science models are prepared by our genius learners. Distinct honourable guests are invited along with parents of our learners to view their work.

This year, the theme for National Science Day 2021 is "Future of STI: Impacts on Education, Skills, and Work", where STI means Science Technology Innovation. Inspite of the current circumstances our science educators came up with the idea of celebrating this day. Their motto was to encourage and inspire our little learners to take part. We couldn’t observe the day like every year as we had to maintain the decorum. Also the participation had to be limited so we missed many of the eager learner’s scientific work. It took up a lot of days for the preparation and commencement of this unique day. Today, on 27th February, we celebrated this day. Robots, Rockets, Corona Vaccine, Automobiles, Smart city as well as a lot of scientific talent were perceived. The invited guests were welcomed by robots. Again a Robotic welcome dance was performed for them. They were explained about all the working as well as non-working models prepared by the limited number of students who were called for the same purpose. Everyone liked the deco and our Corona Vaccine was a hit. It was a memorable day for all.
