The National Sports Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Dhyan Chand Singh. States like Haryana, Punjab and Karnataka, among others, organize various sporting events and seminars aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of physical activities and sports in life.29-Aug every year.
National Sports Day is a celebrated in various countries to honor the national sports teams and sport it ions of those countries. On this day people from different age groups take a part in sports like kabaddi, marathon, basketball, hockey etc.
Sports are considered very important for the physical and mental development of humans. The person who plays any sport remains always healthy. There are many sporting legends have been in India like; PT Usha, who is known as Udanpari, Sachin Tendulkar, known as Master Blaster, and Major Dhyan Chand, known as 'Hockey Wizards'.
Sports experiences help building positive self- esteem in children. In addition, participating in sports can be a helpful way of reducing stress and increasing feelings of physical and mental well-being, as well as fighting against juvenile delinquency, conflict and aggressive outburst.
